Dove hosted New Mills on the back of an impressive away win at previously unbeaten Broadbottom. After many downpours the game finally got underway as the visitors invited Dove to bat in a 28 overs game.
Gaining as many points as possible was the aim with the ground becoming increasingly damp. Openers Dan Gilbride (41) and Bagshaw (45) got Dove off to a flyer. Tom Forder then came in and smashed 94 not out from just 56 deliveries in an innings which included 7 fours and 7 sixes.
Dove picking up maximum batting points finishing on a mammoth 212-5 from the 28 overs.
In reply, the visitors struggled getting close to any batting points. They did however restrict Dove to just four wickets finishing on 64-4 from 28 overs, some 148 runs short of the target. Pick of the bowling Ben Bagshaw 3 for 11 from 7 overs.
Dove picked up 17 points and remain top of the league, 2 points clear of Broadbottom.
SECOND TEAM | DIVISION THREE
Buxworth 59-6 v Dove Holes 61-3
Dove win by 7 wickets (14Pts)
Unbeaten Dove travelled to Buxworth knowing a win would seal the Division Three title.
With rain about and the game reduced to 27 overs Dove Bowled first on the hunt for quick wickets.
Cory Flint was pick of the bowling with 4 wickets for 22 from 12 overs which included 4 maidens as the hosts were restricted to 56 for 9.
In reply, Dove lost 3 wickets but still reached the target in just 10.3 overs reaching 61-3.
The win, along with Newton’s defeat at Chapel, meant that Dove secured the Division Three title with one game spare.
Dove still remain unbeaten and have now won 14 out of 14 league games with one game to go.
