On a glorious day we finally got back to some normality as the 2021 DCCL season got underway.
FIRST TEAM
Dinting 202-8 v Dove Holes 205-4
Dove win by 6 wickets (19 points)
Dove travelled to Dinting, which was looking in great knick, lost the toss and were asked to field first.
Dinting made the most of a great track and rapid outfield and despite losing a few early wickets were on their way to posting a large total.
Dove, however, worked hard in the middle of the innings to peg the hosts back but they still reached a decent score of 202-8. Dan Gilbride 3-40 and D Cartledge 3-48.
In reply Dove made a great start with openers Dan Gilbride smashing a quick fire 68 and Dan Jones 33 setting up the run chase putting on 92 for the first wicket.
A useful contribution from James Gemmell (26) kept the momentum in the run chase and skipper Jack Gregory (43 not out) and Ben Bagshaw (23 not out) secured the win.
Dove reaching the target for the loss of just 4 wickets and with 10 overs spare.
SECOND TEAM
Dove Holes 135-0 v Pott Shrigley 134-9
Dove win by 10 wickets (19 points)
The Second Team hosted Pott Shrigley who won the toss and elected to bat. However the visitors found Cory Flint in fine form (4-20) as they were restricted to 134-9.
In reply Dove openers Mick Johnson (62) and Mark Turner (64) made no mistake in chasing down the target in 23 overs.
Great to be back playing cricket and to share a beer with the opposition at the end of the game.
