Dove Holes 128ao v Hayfield 69/4
Rain Affected Draw
Dove entertained Hayfield on a gloomy day at Hallsteads.
Hayfield won the toss and asked Dove to bat.
Hayfield bowled extremely well and made use of the conditions to reduce dove to 25-6. Evans and the oversea picking up 3 a piece.
Gilly and Gem fought back putting on 33 before Gem fell. Wata joined Gilly at the crease- these 2 batted cleverly ticking over and punishing the few loose balls hayfield bowled. These 2 put on 50 before wata fell for 26 caught and bowled by the oversea.
The Duke came to the crease and rolled back the years with a cover drive off the oversea- these 2 put on 20 before Gilly knicked off to evans for a vey well played 52 with Critch falling soon after with the score 128.
Evans picking up 5 and the oversea 4 - A superb fight back from where we were with Dove feeling they had a chance if they bowled and fielded well given conditions.
Gilly and Critch opened up and bowled well without much reward with the hayfield opening pair putting on 35 before Wyatt chipped one to the skipper off new bowler Wata . Wata then picked up Ramsay caught well by Forder before Critch produced a snorter to get Unsworth caught behind. Wata then Bowled young Evans to reduce hayfield to 53-4.
Wyatt and Evans took the score to 69 before the weather set in and no more play was possible.
The game finely poised- Dove feeling one more wicket would open an end up but the 2 batsman at the crease capable of taking hayfield home.
Dove took 11 points and Hayfield 12. MOTM sponsored by Caecillian Utilities was Dan Gilbride

Hawke Trophy Semi Final
Newton 131ao v Dove Holes 153ao
Dove Holes win by 22 runs
After Saturdays underwhelming performance Dove travelled to Newton for the semi final of the Hawke trophy. Cory won the toss and Dove elected to bat. Dove started exceptionally with Openers Keef and Kier crafting a partnership of 81 before the latter fell for a brilliant 41. What happened now can only be described as calamitous. With a strong batting lineup dove were expected to push on and post a big total however they capitulated. 81-0 to 93-9 is a big collapse even for Doves standard However Vern and Cory had other ideas. The skipper batted well and Vern picked up the bad ball punishing anything to drag Dove to a very respectable 153 all out. Vintage Vern with an excellent 53 not out to give Dove a chance.
In response Dove struck early leaving Newton 10-1. Newton rebuilt to 86-1 before Roy struck to unearth a potentially match winning partnership. Some excellent bowling from Roy and Bren as well as Dove taking their chances left the scores at 120-5 with 10 overs Left. A quick wicket from Bundy as well as tight change bowling and fielding from all saw the hosts lose two quick wickets. Dove continued to work hard in the field and eventually had the hosts all out for 131. An excellent Game that could have gone either way and great to see a second final for Dove.
Man of the match was Mark Vernon
