Thanks to everyone who helped out and supported the league T20 finals day we hosted on Sunday. Despite a gloomy day there was a good crowd and some top cricket played.
Semi Final 1 Mottram v Whaley Bridge Batting first Whaley set what seemed a good score posting 175-8 H Holden made 34 and D Jones smashed 69 from 33 balls R Fitton bowled excellent 4 overs 5-17. In reply A Metcalfe set up the run chase with 45 from 35 and then J Irons came in launching all bowlers to all parts of Dove finishing unbeaten on 83 from just 32 balls. Mottram knocked off the runs with 3 overs spare Semi Final 2 Hawk Green v Hayfield Hayfield posted 175-8 from their 20 overs G Davies hit 40 from 24 balls. In reply Hawk Green coasted to 154-3 With 3.3 overs spare J Needham hit a fine 50 from 37 balls. This set up a final between Mottram and Hawk Green which was reduced to a 15 over game as the clouds came down. Batting First league champions Hawk Green hit 145-5 and in reply Mottram who were in the hunt for most of the innings came up short finishing on 123-4.
Congratulations and good luck to champions Hawk Green who are now leaving the league having picked up a treble in their final season in the DCCL.
