Division One Runner Ups



We take a look back at a memorable season which had everything, 100s, 5 wicket hauls, 10 wicket wins and just two defeats all season!


During the 2021 season the First Team went the whole season unbeaten away from home and finished in second place 27 points behind champions Broadbottom and a huge 60 points ahead of third place Woodley.


With the Bat, Dan Gilbride led the way with 551 runs at an averages of 45.92 Including 5 50s. Skipper Jack Gregory (544, 4 50s, 1 100), Tom Forder (407 5 50s and 101.75 average) and Dan Jones (341) all scored over 300 league runs.


We had some notable individual performances: Jack Gregory 113 not out away at New Mills, Tom Forder hit 94 not out at home to New Mills and Jack Gregory hit 83 at home to Hayfield.


We also had three 100 run partnerships:

  • 117* Dan Gilbride & Dan Jones (10 wicket win v Hayfield)

  • 107 James Gemmell & Jack Gregory (160 run win v Stalybridge)

  • 101 James Gemmell & Jack Gregory (7 wicket win v Dinting)


With the Ball, Dan Waterhouse picked up 32 wickets, Dave Cartledge 31 wickets, Dan Gilbride 29 wickets and Sean Critchlow 28 wickets.

We had three 5 wicket hauls:


  • 6 for 32 Dan Waterhouse v Broadbottom

  • 6 for 35 Dave Cartledge v Pott Shrigley

  • 5 for 19 Sean Critchlow v Stalybridge


Behind the stumps, Dan Jones picked up 14 catches and 5 stumpingS. Joe Hall and Dan Gilbride both had 11 grabs.


Highlights of the season include an impressive opening game of the season where we knocked off 202 for the loss of just 4 wickets and with 10 overs spare away at Dinting. We had 10 wicket wins away at Hayfield and at home to Newton. We also had a close game away at Woodley knocking off 181 for 8. In perhaps the game of the season away at champions Broadbottom, we posted 201all out (Jones 56, Forder 65). Dan Waterhouse then bowed a spell of the season 6 for 32 as Broadbottom were all out for 83 securing an impressive 118 run victory.
